UNODC Handover Ceremony of the Mobile Training Unit

Prevention is one part of our four part mission and has a high importance. To combat child trafficking and exploitation we conduct activities in underprivileged and slum districts around Pattaya to reach the children and educate the parents about the danger of getting involved with traffickers or criminals who target these areas. The mobile unit will support the work of our social- and outreach workers enormously. It carries a library and media equipment, which is essential to provide awareness and a help-line to those who are the most vulnerable. We will now be able to discuss topics like the use of drugs, child trafficking and incest in order to prevent abuse.

The unit will additionally help us to include schools, youth organisations and any disadvantaged areas where children are at risk of being abused or involved with crime or drugs.  It also gives us the opportunity to provide information and support those who are already in trouble. Our heartfelt thanks go to the UNODC and especially to Ms. Margaret Akullo, the officer-in-charge of UNODC regional office and the Japanese Embassy.
