“Love and Care” Charity Concert

In the bright and early morning, our whole team set off to the Alangkarn Theater to make last preparations and to be ready to welcome the Pattaya Orphanage’s friends and supporters.

We did not have to wait long until our first guests arrived. Khun Samphan, Khun Toy and the other volunteers welcomed our children from CPDC and the children from Baan Jing Jai, Fountain of Life and the Father Ray Foundation and all the other guests warmly. Among our guests there were many who did not hesitate to travel the whole way from Bangkok to witness this very special charity concert.

For everyone who arrived early, we had prepared a choice of delicious food including Vegetarian Fried Rice or Noodles, Fish balls, fresh local fruits and coconut cake. In this way, our friends could enjoy a little lunch before the show began and in addition, donate some money to the Pattaya Orphanage, thus all proceeds were going to the “Education Fund”.

At nearly two o’clock, the show finally began. For this very moment, the Thai Alangkarn Theater itself had a little surprise in store. They opened the Charity Event with a new performance which had never been shown before. It was called “Helping Hand” and ended with three artists hovering above the heads of the audience strewing glitter before all the artists were united at the stage holding a little child in their middle.

The audience was still enchanted when Father Kritsada Sukkaphat, deputy director of the Pattaya Orphanage, gave a hearty welcome speech followed by Steven Kitikiatisak, president of Maryuit Schools.

A short slide show presented the Pattaya Orphanage and its achievements after 40 years of successful child care.

Several kinds of dances were presented by the Nareethip School for Dance starting with a delightful ballet by a group of mixed age, followed by three elder girls impressing with a fast dance faning their beautiful dresses and ended a synchronic hip hop performance.

By this time, our children’s great moment had arrived. The older girls from the Pattaya Orphanage performed a typical Thai dance. They impressed everybody with their delicate movements and their beautiful dresses. Later on, they were joined by younger girls and boys and in the end by a few children from the Sotpattana School for the Deaf who walked over the stage scattering glitter.

While the stage was arranged for the Nuvo band behind the curtain, a glass harp musician entertained the audience. Alternating between fast and slow music Veeraphong Taweesak put everyone in the right mood for the concert. He relaxed the ones who were impatiently waiting for Joe and Kong by creating a cheerful atmosphere with songs like “Sway”.

Finally, the curtain opened and the first tones of the guitars were heard. The audience were overjoyed and welcomed the two Thai superstars cheerfully. Joe and Kong performed a selection of their best songs. In doing so, they alternated between Thai and English songs so that everyone could listened closely. However, the feelings of the songs could be perfectly communicated not by words, but by the sounds of the guitar and Joe and Kong’s voices.

Nevertheless, there had to be an ending. Once again, all the performing children from the Pattaya Orphanage came onto the stage while Joe and Kong played their very last song.

We would like to thank all the guests who joined the concert, thus donated nearly two million baht to the “Education Fund” supporting the children of the Pattaya Orphanage.

Besides, we are very grateful that the Thai Alangkarn Theater offered us to use their stage for free.

Moreover, we thank all the artists who put all their efforts in practicing for this unique show.

At last but not least, we would like to thank Joe and Kong Nuvo sincerely for taking their time to perform at our Charity Concert and for giving everyone especially the children an unforgettable afternoon.
